BEFORE YOUR MATERNITY SHOOT

If your shoot is taking place in your home, it’s really useful to send me a few images of your rooms so that I can get an idea of the space and pick out the best spots for your shoot

It’s really worth spending a bit of time planning your outfits for your shoot, please feel free to send me some snaps of outfit choices and I can offer my advice.

Light weight fabrics with subtle prints give a lovely, soft look:

Painted nails look lovely for close up shots of your hands on your bump:

A soft colour palette works really well for maternity shoots, layering textured knitted cardigans or embroidered/pattered kimonos over a simple dress or vest top looks great:

Add accessorise like hats and jewellery:

If you’re having your shoot at home we can do a few shots in some pretty underwear with a sheer coverup:

If you would like to include your partner in your maternity shoot, and children if this isn’t your first, it’s a good idea to have a think about a colour scheme.  Here are some useful tips:

This shoot is all about the mama!!….the aim is to make sure you feel beautiful and relaxed so start with your outfit and work from there.  Choose something that you feel great in and then co-ordinate your partner and children’s outfits.  Co-ordinate colours, textures and patterns that work well together.  Soft colours and neutrals work really well, it’s best to keep them muted and avoid bright colours and bold logos as they can be distracting in your images. Layers are great as they create texture and interest, knitted jumpers, cardigans or denim shirts over tops for men or casual shirts over t-shirts are great.  Patterns like stripes and polka dots are great for kids and textures like denim, chambray, corduroy, knitwear and broderie anglaise photograph really well.  Depending on the season straw or wooly hats look really cute for outdoor shoots and pretty hairbands and clips are sweet for little girls! Here are some ideas for colour schemes:

ON THE DAY OF YOUR MATERNITY SHOOT

Your maternity shoot will last around 1 hour

If the shoot is taking place in your home we can make any final decisions on outfits when I arrive and I will have a quick look around to find the best light and choose the best spots to shoot in

I have a relaxed approach to maternity sessions and take simple, natural shots of you and your bump as well as you together as a couple and as a family if this isn’t your first!

AFTER YOUR MATERNITY SHOOT

A few days after your session I will share a few images from your shoot as a sneak peek on my photography instagram and Facebook pages, if you follow me on social media I can tag you in the posts!

I will individually edit each image for your gallery in my own unique style, there will be a mixture of colour and black & white depending on what best suits each image

2 weeks after your shoot you will receive an email with a link to your online password protected gallery where you can view and select your images (usually around 30 images)

Most families find my work through images I have shared on my website or social media, this is a great way for me to showcase my photography and book future shoots.  I’m very proud of the work I create with each family and would love to share your images, if this is something you are not happy with please let me know
